Have you ever heard of Agatha Christie? If you have, then you probably know that she is a great writer. Agatha has over 44 billion books published in other languages!! She was born on September 15, 1890, in Forquy, Devon. One of her sisters, Madge, was the one who challenged Agatha to write a mystery novel. Agatha had always loved to read mysteries, and she grew up reading them.

In 1913, Agatha met Archibald Christie, an army officer. They married a year later. The Christies had a daughter in 1919, they named her Rosalind. During World War 2, Archibald went away to fight. Agatha stayed home and helped in the town hospitals. That is where her interests in poison developed.

Agatha Christie's mother died and Agatha was very depressed!! She was so depressed that she disappeared in December of 1926. Her car was found abandoned not far from her house. The police searched everywhere, in fields, woods, rivers, and even swamps. Agatha's disappearance got into all the newspapers and the radio. A national search was formed. Her husband, Archibald Christie, was starting to be suspected of murdering Agatha!! But soon she was found at an England hotel, and could not remember how she got there. Apparently, she had amnesia, but she soon recovered.

Archibald Christie and Agatha Christie were divorced in April 1928. Agatha went to Turkey and met a man named Max Mallowan, a archaeologist. They got married in 1930. Agatha Christie died in 1976.
