Phoenix
By Saharai

Phoenix was the mythical bird that was rising from his own ashes, introduced by Johann Bayer in 1603. This constellation, in the past, was known as "The Boat" by the Arabs. Soon after that it, became known as a type of bird, such as an eagle. Bayer's decision was to call this constellation Phoenix. It's asterism is like a large bird rising into the air. The Bayer stars generally range from the third to fifth magnitude. There are many unspectacular binaries and also several variables including an important dwarf Cepheid.
