Whales

Whale population has decreased by at least half of what it was 200 years ago. Most whales are beached, killed or poached. Beluga whales have been found with high levels of toxins such as PCB's, DDT's, and insecticide mirex.

Whaling has changed in many way, like stronger weapons and increased whalng activity. Because of this, some whales attack humans. Once a whale jumped on a boat and crushed two people, injuring them both.

There are two kinds of whales, baleen and toothed whales. Baleen whales have plates in their mouths. Thet catch tiny food like plankton. Toothed whales have teeth and est foods like squid, octopus and even each other.

Whales, like dolphins, use echolocation to find and communicate under water. They have a few human friends which help push them back in the water if they are beached.

A few facts:

The Killer Whale, or Orca whale is not really a killer.
