Where they live! Sponges are found in the mediterranean and Atlantic oceans. Sponges pump water through there body that's how they exist if they didn't they would die of to much water because they don't have gills like fish they have lung like things in there body they are covered with little tiny spores on there body they also have canals that are all over there body's the little ones eventually lead to bigger ones that pump out the water that would of stayed in there body's and they probably would of died from to much water.

What they eat! Sponges eat little particles that are so small that you can't even see it we can only see there food with a microscope but some food can get so big that you can hardly see it. If you can even see it you have really good eyesight. The little tiny things can be so small that sponges can't even see them.  If all of them were that little they would have to catch bigger prey or they would starve to death. If all of there food grew bigger then them then they for sure go to the endangered species list.

Size. They can grow to be 4 feet long that is the biggest sponge ever recorded there is probably much bigger sponges out there but if there isn't that must be one big sponge compared to the other ones out there. Many numbers of sponges can be together so they can be protected a lot better because if they weren't they would have to try to survive on there own.

Interesting things about the Sponge! If the sponge breaks a peace or damages it the sponge will grow back the part of there body that broke off  this is called regeneration. Most sponges are male and female. If they meet another sponge one will act as a female and one will act as the male. So, it's just like if they were regular like most animals like squids or some other kind of animal.   They are some pretty cool animals. Their protective system! The sponge looks like a plant so the predator can't find it so it doesn't know to eat it.  It looks like a rock but not like a rock that we see every day.  They look like the kind under the sea, a  place that we have just started to really explore.
