Electricity effects every part of our lives, how we eat, how we play, how we amuse ourselves, what we hear, how we travel, and how we communicate. Electricity has been an important invention for the 20th century. The lives of millions have changed because of electricity. Electricity is so important we should know how it works.
Benjamin Franklin was the first to capture electricity. He was trying to prove to people that lightning is a form of electricity. When he had proven this he was elected part of the Royal Society (1772). Today we remember him as a famous inventor. Benjamin also invented the lightning rod that saved many houses from fires started by lightning.
Lightning is a form of electricity. Lightning is a giant spark in the sky called a static discharge that occurs when electrons jump from a cloud to another object. A flash between a cloud and the ground may be up to nine miles long. Very commonly lightning strikes tall buildings because they are so tall. Lightning strikes about 100 times each second in the United States.
Electricity can flow from one thing to the next through wires. The movement of electrons down a path is called a current. The path of which a current flows is called a circuit. An example of a circuit would be if you had a wire and put one end on a battery and the other on a light bulb. Now take another wire and do the same thing. You should end up with a circle. That circle would be your circuit.
Electricity is used in many areas in modern life. It is used in industry to run lathes, milling machinery machines and many more ways. It’s used in communication for radios, telephones, TVs. It’s used in different types of transportation such as cars, trains, and space crafts. Last but not least it is used in science, medicine, and nearly all of their research equipment is based on electricity . Without electricity it would be very hard because we depend on it for a lot of things.

have things like televisions and computer games. In fact, the human
brain uses electricity in the body’s nervous system. Yes, it is
true, the world would fall apart without electricity.
