CometEdmund Halley was one of Isaac Newton’s supporters. Halley wanted to prove that comets orbit the sun like other planets. In 1682, he observed the place where a comet appeared. He then searched old manuscripts for other comets in the same location. After some searching, he figured out that the comet appeared every 76 years. The comet is named after him.
