Guide to Recycling

The average family throws away 1.5 tons of garbage a year. Along with your garbage is tons of pens, diapers, old tires, and table scraps from last weeks dinner! But what happens to it after it disappears into the noisy truck that wakes you in the middle of the night. First it (the truck) takes it to a garbage dump. Most of the stuff in your garbage can is recyclable. So why waste all the space in the landfill on things that can be recycled? The following is a step-by-step guide to home recycling.

1. Figure out what use each day that's recyclable.
Here is a helpful list of things that can be recycled*:
Office paper**
Cardboard
Magazines
Newspaper

*List varies from town to town.
**This list is of paper products only.

2. Sort the different kinds of paper into different containers or bins.

3. Put a recycling bin.

4. Put out on the curb on recycling day.

5. Keep up the hard work! Remember the only way recycling or anything works is if you keep doing it!

6. Get others to recycle and join the fun.
